Finding your wedding photographer

Your wedding day. For the most people a ones in a lifetime event. So it need to be perfect.
Everything will be researched. How much can you send on the dress, how many people can come.
Invitations send out. And you need a photographer. What do you need to know from the photographer.

That is why we wrote this little article about it. With a small checklist what you can use.
But first of all. Budget is important, so ask what the photographer ask for an average wedding,
and what is included. Like how many hours is he/she available, is there a extra traveling fee, or some
other additional cost, that is not included in the price. In that way you can already make a first selection.

When you have done the above you can start with our checklist.

Ask if you can see some work from the photographer online. Not only a few pictures, because the photographer will show you only the best. But ask to see a complete weddings sessions. If the photographer is saying that it is not possible because of privacy reasons then it is probably not the photographer for you. Because the photographer can always ask permission.
If you look at a photo-session of the photographer, ask then if that is what you would like yourself. What you see is most of the time what you get.
Is the photographer coming to the wedding, or someone else. Yes, this looks strange, but there are many photographers who are really busy, and they send then someone else. That has not to be a problem as long as you can see that photographer’s work.
Check if it is clicking with the photographer. Make a appointment to talk things over. If it is not ‘clicking’ with the photographer, then you can better select a other one.
Payment. Ask always what is included. And what not. Not only the hours, but also how many pictures are included. Is there a album included? How many photographer are coming? Is there someone else if the photographer can not make it to the wedding. (And do not let you talk out of it with something like “Nothing is going to happen to me” because when your “Big” day is coming, and there is no photographer, then you have a problem.
Check people who have experience with this photographer that you selected.

The above checking list is just a good start to find your wedding photographer.
(Here or elsewhere) Be sure that when the day is almost there (Like 2 weeks before) that you check with the photographer. (By phone, but better is to talk to the photographer in person) Make a list what you expect of your photographer to do.
Do not accept that you just hire the person. Tell what you aspect to see in the photo-session.
